Darlene's Hotel Bakersfield

Darlene’s is an old dilapidated motel located in Oildale that has been turned into a primary residence for 13 families. The rooms are very small with only a living room, bedroom, bathroom and kitchenette (less than 500 square feet). Families of up to five members live in these tiny units. Nearly half of the occupants are small children under the age of ten. Most of the residents have lived at Darlene’s for several years and care for each other like a small community. A Bridge small group has adopted the motel and feeds the families on the last Monday of the month when their food supply is running low. Over the past year and a half, the residents have learned to trust them and they have become part of the Darlene’s small community. Their mission is to show love, kindness, and compassion with the ultimate goal of leading them to the Lord.
