The Bridge Bible Church: Bakersfield, CA
Nexus Grow
So what does it mean to “grow up”? We’re not talking about getting taller or older, but about growing in your relationship with God. It’s also about growing in our relationships with other people and our love for them too.
We grow in lots of different ways like going to church, spending time with God in prayer, reading His Word, journaling, obeying Him, and more. We also grow as we show God’s love to others and learn how to treat them the way God wants us to.
Here are some resources to help you GROW. . .
Group Meetings
We have large group meetings Sunday nights. We usually meet at church from 6-8pm, but check the calendar for other events the Costume Party, Progressive Thanksgiving Dinner, Christmas Party and more!
Small Groups
Small groups meet during the school year on Wednesdays from 7-8:30pm. It’s a great place to meet with a smaller group to pray, hang out, study and serve. We have girls and guys groups that divide up by grade. Check out the Small Group Page for more info.
Bible Reading Plan
Join with us as we read through the Bible together. We have free bible reading bookmarks at church and in the church office that will get you on track reading with us regularly through scripture. Read the Old and New Testament potions to get through the whole Bible, or if you're just starting out, try the New Testament portion (one chapter per day). You can also download it on the church website.
Journals
You can use your own or buy a Bridge journal at the church office. Journals are a great way to write down your prayers and praises, what God is teaching you through His Word, and medidtate on what you've read. It's also fun to look back at where you've come from as you grow.
Ministry Teams
Students can apply for Ministry Teams of they want to be challenged to go to a deeper level of spiritual growth, outreach and service. Applications for the 2011-2012 year are due March 6th, 2011.
Worship/Media Ministry
We want to have students involved with serving in minstry at Nexus, and Worship/Media are two opportunities to serve. If you're interested contact Pastor Jimmy.
Saturday Night Service Greeting Team
We need students to volunteer to serve at our Saturday Night services greeting people and helping new visitors feel welcome. If you are interested in serving contact Bob or Mindy Parry at: bparry16@aol.com

BOOKS
Crazy Love
Overwhelmed by a Relentless God
AUTHOR: Francis Chan
We read through this as a recommended resource for our church in 2009. It's an incredible book that will challenge you to live out your life completely devoted to Christ.
Dateable: Are You? Are They?
AUTHOR: Justin Lookadoo and Haley DiMarco
Instead of just giving principles for dating or "courting", this book challenges readers to think about whether they ar even ready to date at all. It's filled with great principles, funny stories, and perspective from a guy and girl author on dating, purity and practical ways to honor God in relationships.
The Life You've Always Wanted
AUTHOR: John Ortberg
This is an incredible book that takes readers through the classic spiritual practices ("disciplines") that can help you grow spiritually. It's filled with great stories and easy ways to apply these to your life. It also has great study guide questions and is good for group studies.
The ME I Want To Be
AUTHOR: John Ortberg
This is a great book to read after "the Life You've Always Wanted". It takes students through a more personal application of spiritual growth practices to their daily lives. Some small groups have used this book in their studies and love it!
