LINKS, ARTICLES & BOOKS
BOOK: "Teenology: The Art of Raising Great Teenagers" by Jim Burns, PhD.
Bethany House Publishers, 2010.
This is a great read if you're looking for a parenting book that addresses issues specific to teenagers and is written in light of modern culture and technology. Jim Burns speaks from the experience of being a parent of teens and of being involved with youth ministry for decades. He's currently the president of HomeWord and senior director of the HomeWard center for youth and family at Azusa Pacific University.
"Stay calm. Adolescence is a temporary transition.
Work your plan. Hold on to your seat belt. Get as
spiritually healthy as you possibly can, and before
you know it, that sweet kids who morphed into a teen
and sometimes hates you will become a responsible adult"
-Jim Burns
BOOK: "The Five Love Languages of Teenagers" by Gary Chapman.
The Five Love Languages of Teenagers contains very practical guidance on how to express the teen's primary love language, how to teach them appropriate responsibility, and how to properly handle both parental and teen anger. If you've read the adult version don't think you shouldn't read this! It contains much information specific to teens and gives great food for thought in your parenting.
The website for U.S.S. Parenting is a great FREE resource for parents with wisdom and encouragement for navigating the teenage years. It was deveoped by real parents who are involved with helping other parents at their church. Check out the website at:

"Real World Parents" is a great website for you to check often as a parent of a teen. It's put together by Mark Matlock who works for Youth Specialties and is the speaker for the Planet Wisdom Student Conference.
