FAQ's
What's required to be a youth leader?
We're looking for responsible and godly adults who have a passion to see teens pursue a relationship with Jesus Christ. We're looking for adults who pursue a holy life, model authenticity, are willing to work constructively with the team, and who will be consistent in commitments. Youth Leaders must go through an application process, interview and background check. Parent Volunteers who serve occasionally on trips or with events do not neessarily have to go through the application process depending on the area of service.
Am I too old/young to serve?
Adults who wish to serve must be at least a year or two out of high school and mature enough to be a leader instead of just another student. No one is too old to serve as Long and you love the Lord and students!
Do I have to commit to attending every event to serve?
No. We look for consistency in what you commit to:
Small group leaders require a high level of consistency and meet weekly during the school year. Small Group Leaders commit to at least one full year.
Sunday night leaders are expected to attend every Nexus unless an emergency comes up or the Youth Pastor has been notified in advance.
Nexus info tabel volunteers are expected to show up when they're supposed to and find a trusted and trained replacement when they can't make it (one who has been through the training on collecting money, etc.).
Drivers, host homes and camp counselors should check theiir schedules before commiting to serve. It causes a lot of extra work and problems when people who are comitted don't show up. If unexpected emergencies come up they are expected to notify the event chairperson or Youth Pastor as soon as possible.
