Nexus Student Ministry Teams

At Nexus we have two opportunities for students to rise to a higher level of servant leadership in through "Doulos" and "Reach" Student Ministry Teams.  They give students the opportunity to be challenged to grow deeper spiritually, do service and outreach, and stand out as leaders among their peers. The teams can range from about 8-12 students each year.

Teams run from summer to spring. Students who want to apply in Spring of 2013 for the following year need to make sure that they regularly attend Nexus and church, are involved in a small group, and serving in a ministry (Children's, worship, leading a campus club, etc.) to be eligible to apply.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Who can sign up?
All current students may apply for either team in the spring of each year.

How are leaders chosen once the application is filled out?
Students go through an application process including written application, interview and small group leader reccomendation. The final team is decided on this and the dynamic and balance of the team
. Students also must have a schedule that is free enough to be able to consistently attend and serve throughout the entire year. Questions about the process should be asked before the student applies.

Why is the size of each team limited?
The team size is limited because the level of discipleship we are trying to accomplish can only be done with a smaller group.

What does it cost to be on the team?
There is no registration fee to join. Students are required to attend Wildwood Discipleship Camp in July though (about $375), and purchase books required (approximatley $100 throughout the year).  Nexus offsets as much of this cost as possible to keep the cost down for students and work scholarships are available. It is also recommended that students purchase a good Bible if they do not have one already (reccommend ESV or NIV versions, and the ESV Study Bible or NIV Study Bibles are a great tool for them to have in their library).

What if my student will have to drop in the spring because of sports or a job?
Students are required to keep their commitment throughout the year. If they cannot fulfill their entire comittment it is better that they not apply and take a spot from another student who can fulfill the entire year comittment.
